I always get excited when it’s a Smart Cookie Shopping week. I love sharing these biweekly posts with you where we explore all the new products hitting the shelves of the grocery store. What’s better than a biweekly discussion about food?
Oh wait, we talk about food every day here.
That’s because we’re awesome.
Anyway, I’m ready to get shopping. I even made a late night trip to my grocery store just for you guys last night. Let’s see what I gathered up.
- Quaker Baked Protein Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal Bars - available in the cereal aisle
I loved these. They’re hearty and tasty without that aftertaste that a lot of protein bars have. Each bar has 10 grams of protein. - Nestle Filled Baking Morsels in Caramel - available in the baking aisle
These are really cool and delectable. You can eat ‘em like candy. BUT they were almost four bucks for a tiny bag. That’s lame.
- Duncan Hines Red Velvet Brownies - available in the baking aisle
It’s a weird time of year to release a red velvet product, but that didn’t stop me from being sucked into buying it. These are your standard box mixed brownies with not much distinction flavor-wise. I have fun Halloween things planned for them though.
- International Delight Pumpkin Pie Spice Creamer - available with the dairy products
Can we talk about the fact that this has winter/holiday decor? What the heck is that? Can we get through fall first please? Anyway, this is yummy but not pumpkin-y at all.
- Dole Fruit & Oatmeal in Blueberries & Cream – available in the cereal aisle
I am really excited about these. They’re like an upgraded version of the Quaker Oatmeal you grew up with. The blueberries are plump, and it has just the right amount of sweetness. The only thing is, they cook up quite watery, so add less water than the package recommends. - Dole Fruit & Oatmeal in Apples & Brown Sugar - available in the cereal aisle
Another winner. I honestly can’t say which flavor I like more. This tastes like fall. However, this flavor bakes up thicker than the other.
- Morningstar Farms Veggie Breakfast Sandwich - available in the frozen section near the breakfast foods
I usually love Morningstar Farms, but these were awful. What little flavor it did have was unpleasant, although I can’t place what it was that I tasted. Whatever it was, I did not like it. Don’t waste your money.
- Campbell’s Slow Kettle Creamy Broccoli Cheddar Bisque - available in the soup section
This is literally the same broccoli soup they’ve been selling for years, but in a fancier and extremely inconvenient container. This was a pain in the butt to cook and not worth the effort.
