You can tell by the clutter of the Weekender collage that we’ve got a lot of catching up to do. For the last few weeks, I was battling mono, and the most recent weekend that passed, I was wrapped up in Sister Cookie’s wedding.
I’ll start by telling y’all that, yes, I am feeling worlds better. I feel like my old self. Mono was an awful, awful illness. I am lucky to say it is the worst thing I’ve suffered from, but it was miserable all the same. I had a non-stop headache for over a week that left me unable to walk straight, nausea so bad I couldn’t eat for a week, and overwhelming tiredness that persisted endlessly. I got knocked down hard. I couldn’t get anything done because I couldn’t stay awake for more than a few hours at a time. I just wanted relief, but mono is a virus, and has to run its course.
Now, I’ve gotten back to my old routine, my energy is mostly back, and everyone tells me my color has returned. I don’t know how my color ever left because I’m paler than Frosty the Snowman on a good day, but I guess that’s still a good sign.
My improved health means I got back to cooking up a storm for all of you, and I’d say I came back better than ever.

Now, I know y’all are waiting to hear about the wedding. I’m happy to report it was a beautiful day with the most gorgeous weather we could’ve asked for, a glowing bride, and a ridiculous amount of love. We had no big snafus or emergencies – it truly was perfect. The love birds are now off celebrating their honeymoon, and I am so happy for Sister Cookie and BIL Cookie.
The real hero of the weekend though was Ry, who saved the day multiple times for all of us. My whole family was quite grateful he was there.
Now that wedding worries are behind me, I can focus on my favorite holiday: Halloween. I’ve got the apartment decked out.
Plus, I’m having a difficult time turning down festive finds like these awesome owl pj pants.
We all know I could never, ever say “no” to a giant Halloween Hello Kitty. I adopted her from Walmart, if y’all were wondering.
The kitties are doing well too, if you were curious. Mr. Poe is practicing his shade-throwing…
…as well as showing off his long legs.
Mina can’t believe how lanky her brother is.
And she may also be morphing into a parrot.
I just broke 100 followers on Instagram, and I can’t wait to see that number keep climbing. If you’re not following me yet, get on it! You’ll get sneak previews of recipes to come, like this Rice Krispie Crown.
What’s been going on with you guys in the past few weeks? Are you feeling the Halloween spirit?
